Dissolve is a series of handwoven digital textiles that use synthetic dyes of red, blue, and green–the origin of digital color for screens–that dissolve into each other. They were handwoven on a digital Jacquard loom with signature deconstructed fringe. Each pattern used a Hubble spacecraft image of either the Andromeda Galaxy or the Milky Way Galaxy as a weaving template created in software, pixel per thread. Once the pattern is uploaded to the loom, the work is woven by hand with unfinished edges, gesturing to the borderless and exit patterns of the textile. Each blurs boundaries and transforms into each other as anti-borders–ending in a deconstructed fringe that pulls away from edges.
